The WSU AAUP-AFT is happy to endorse the Wayne State University Women’s Sister March, scheduled for Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at the David Adamany Undergraduate Library.
For those who are unable to go to Washington, D.C., GO-GIRL (Gaining Option: Girls Investigate Real Life) is hosting this event in support of the Women’s March on Washington in the name of justice and equality. To see their announcement, please click on their Facebook link below:
Since Michelle Fecteau, our Executive Director, will be in Washington, D.C., and Moira Fracassa, the Executive Board’s Secretary will be in Lansing, Tammy Force, the Local Union’s Executive Assistant, and Jacqueline Daugherty (Academic Staff, Labor Studies Center), the Executive Board’s Delegate to the Metropolitan Detroit AFL-CIO, will be meeting up with our members that morning to participate.
Make sure to wear your pink hats, or “pussy hats” (PussyHatProject.c
om) if you have one, and come out to show your solidarity with our campus community, and others from our Detroit community. We will have Union signs available, and provide markers in case you would like to create your own slogans for signs.
At 10:00 a.m., there will be a speaker, followed by a short march. The event will be wrapping up sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Again, please join all of us for this important March. Remember, this is not a “Women’s Only” event -- men are welcome, too.
