Dear colleagues,
If you have not yet applied for PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness), do not wait. One academic staff member here at Wayne State applied last October, had all their remaining debt erased, and, earlier this month, received nearly $14,000 in refund checks for overpayment. If you have tried applying for PSLF before and been denied, or you’re not sure whether you qualify, I encourage you to try. We have until October 2022 to take advantage of this. SCHOOL OF MEDICINE SURVEY CLOSES THURSDAY
All faculty and academic staff in the School of Medicine should have received an email from AAAElections for a link to a 5-minute morale survey. Please find it and fill it out today. If you cannot find it, contact Mark Dilley (mdilley@aaupaft.org) to have one re-sent to you. Learn about recent developments in the SOM here.
FWA PILOT EXTENDED TO END OF MAY
Hopefully everyone saw in the Provost’s latest email that the Flexible Work Arrangement pilot program, which was due to end in March, has been extended to the end of May. Great work by union members of the joint administrator/union (2N) committee in asking for this extension. It will give the committee more time to review and discuss FWA guidelines.
CHILDCARE SUBSIDY PROGRAM: APPLY BY JANUARY 31
If you have a pre-first grade child who has been enrolled at a licensed childcare provider, you are eligible for a subsidy payment to help offset costs. The first round applications are due by Monday, January 31. Details and application form here. Please direct questions to Michelle Fecteau (mfecteau@aaupaft.org).
SELECTIVE SALARY FACTORS FOR NTT FACULTY
Non-tenure track research and teaching faculty (not clinical) have until this Friday (1/28) to let your chair, dean or supervisor know if you would like to have your selective salary factors changed to either 6/7ths teaching, or 6/7ths research, for this year only.
